Hello everyone, Today I'd like to talk about the strategy I finally settled on and how I came up with it. As I mentioned in a previous article, even though I wanted to take things slowly and carefully plan the development of my town, it wasn't an easy task because I lacked the basic information I needed to make good decisions. It took several attempts and quite a few mistakes before I found something that actually worked for me. As you can imagine, all that experimenting completely drained the energy bar you start the game with. Not just my energy, but a lot of resources as well. It got to the point where I even considered resetting my town and starting over. The tutorial mentioned that this was possible, but in the end I couldn't find that option anywhere. Fortunately, I managed to make the most of what I had already built. My main goal, and I imagine it's the same for most players, was to optimize my resources. If you need citizens, they have to live in houses, so naturally I wanted to keep the population as low as possible to avoid building too many houses. That also meant trying not to duplicate buildings that require citizens to operate. How naive I was. That approach simply doesn't work here. In this game, you actually have to do the exact opposite and build multiple copies of the same structures. Why? Because you don't have enough space, because you either can't, or simply shouldn't, remove the buildings that were already on your map when you started the game, and because the game's own mechanics leave you with very few alternatives. So I eventually came to the rather frustrating conclusion that if I couldn't extend the range of my influence buildings to reach the structures that needed them, and I couldn't move those structures either, then I'd have to build a separate influence cluster next to every single building I wanted to develop. Yes, I had exactly the same thought you're probably having right now: what a waste of resources! On top of that, I wasn't even sure whether I could remove an influence cluster later without causing problems for the rest of my layout. Since the game doesn't explain whether that's possible, there was only one way to find out, so I started experimenting. There I was, placing marketplaces everywhere. I was starting to feel like I was running a bazaar! Next came the police stations. I haven't started building fire stations yet because I still haven't needed to reach level 3, but... I'm sure that day will come. The funny thing is that, despite all those mistakes, I don't really regret making them. In fact, I think they helped me understand the game much better than simply copying someone else's layout. Every failed attempt taught me something new, and every change made the next decision a little easier. Sometimes the best way to learn a game is to stop worrying about making the perfect move and just see what happens. You might waste a few resources, but in return you gain experience that no guide can really teach. I already knew that not everything was going to be easy, but I also knew it was going to be fun. Experimenting and growing. Building, rebuilding, and watching your little village slowly become something bigger. Seeing how a handful of buildings gradually turns into a real town is probably one of the most satisfying parts of the game, and I think that's what keeps me coming back every day. But that's a story for the next chapter. See you around. Be good, be patient ... and mine a lot.

Having to build outposts and markets everywhere instead of expanding your sphere of influence is a really frustrating mechanic, but you've come up with a great strategy out of it. I'm eagerly awaiting your fire station adventure and the changes the town undergoes in the next chapter! Happy mining and lots of patience, see you in the next post!

Learning through trial and error is definitely the best way to understand CoinRepublik's mechanics. Having to place separate influence clusters like markets and police stations everywhere can feel frustrating and wasteful at first, but it is great to see how you turned those mistakes into valuable experience. Making adjustments along the way makes city progression much more rewarding. Good luck with the fire stations in your next chapter!

This is a fantastic read! Having to build separate influence clusters like marketplaces and police stations next to every single development area can definitely feel frustrating and wasteful at first. However, turning those initial mistakes into valuable experience is what makes city progression so rewarding. Good luck dealing with the fire stations in your next chapter, keep up the great work!

Great article, Mayor. I really enjoy reading posts that focus on practical ideas and long-term strategy instead of only talking about quick rewards. Content like this helps both new and experienced players understand the game from a much deeper perspective, and I think that is exactly what makes the CoinRepublik community stronger over time. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience with everyone. I’m looking forward to reading more of your future articles, and I hope more players support quality content like this with a like and a thoughtful comment because discussions like these are valuable for all Mayors.

The articles on this page are quite interesting and will provide valuable lessons for novice players who are new to this game. It seems like a simple game: constructing a building, placing workers, and then carrying out their respective functions. Then, they produce something that can be used as profit by transacting with other players or processed to produce different products that can also be profitable and can be brought into real life.

This was a great read and so relatable! city builders definitely force you to learn through trial and error, especially when influence coverage mechanics force you to spam duplicate buildings like marketplace everywhere. I love your pespective on embracing mistakes rather than just blindly copying a guide—it really make the growth of your town much more satisfying. Good luck when you finally have to build those fire stations for level 3 mine still in level 1

I really enjoyed reading this article because it describes a learning process that I think every new player experiences. I also tried to optimize everything at the beginning, only to discover that some support buildings need to be duplicated because of their influence range. It feels wasteful at first, but after experimenting you realize it's simply part of designing an efficient city. Your point about learning through mistakes is probably the most valuable lesson in the article. No guide can replace the experience you gain by testing different layouts yourself. Thanks for sharing your journey—it will definitely help new mayors avoid unrealistic expectations while encouraging them to keep experimenting.

This is a brilliantly honest reflection on city planning! I completely relate to the frustration of building endless marketplaces just to cover influence zones. Embracing mistakes as the best learning tool is definitely the right mindset here. Which specific production building are you planning to upgrade to level three first?

There's also that part where to expand your buildable land range you must buy a patch which can easily overlooked. Why everyone keeps saying upgrading a house is actually cheaper than building them. As for the buying those patches. I never noticed it because it's quite subtle. But if you look close there're patches of lands around your starting area that are darker than others. So you can see which you have to buy & which that belongs to you since the beginning. Help you plan things out more. Good luck with your endeavors.

Having to establish outposts and marketplaces everywhere instead of broadening your domain is a truly exasperating mechanic, but you've devised an excellent strategy from it. I’m excitedly anticipating your fire station endeavor and the transformations the town will experience in the upcoming chapter! Wishing you productive mining and plenty of patience, see you in the next update!

I can relate to this a lot! Many of my best lessons came from mistakes rather than perfect planning. At the beginning it feels frustrating to waste resources, but those experiments teach you how the systems really work. Building, adjusting, and learning is a big part of the fun in CoinRepublik.
